Edward M. Stanley
Principal
Edward
M. Stanley brings years of experience in the fields of antiques
and the fine arts to the appraisal profession and is a member
of the Appraisers Association of America, a group of professional
appraisers dedicated to advancing ethics and knowledge in
the field of appraisal. A dealer in antiques and the fine
and decorative arts for many years, Mr. Stanley brings expertise
in these fields as well as a business background to his appraisal
firm. He is a Qualified Appraiser for preparing appraisal
reports per Internal Revenue Service Tax Regulation 1.170A-13(c)(5)
and has met the updated Uniform Standards of Appraisal Practice
examination requirement, as mandated by the IRS for taxation,
estates and charitable contributions. Prior to establishing
his appraisal services firm, Mr. Stanley was principal of
Edward M. Stanley Historic Preservation Services, and he now
serves as Collections Consultant for the historic Loring-Greenough
House in Boston.
Mr.
Stanley is a recipient of the American Society of Appraisers
Certificate in Appraisal Studies in Art and Antiques from
the Rhode Island School of Design. In addition, he holds Masters
Degrees in Historic Preservation from Boston University and
Business Administration from the University of Connecticut.
He is a graduate of the Winter Institute of Winterthur Museum
and holds a Bachelors Degree from Bates College. Mr. Stanley
attends and participates in numerous professional appraisal
meetings, antique market seminars and academic personal property
conferences throughout the year and is a member of the Decorative
Arts Trust of Philadelphia and the Furniture History Society
of London.
